Opportunity
The Local Health System Sustainability (LHSS) Project, valued at $209 million over 5 years, is a global endeavor aimed at fortifying health systems to attain universal health coverage and enhance overall population health and well-being.
The project’s interventions will concentrate on dismantling financial barriers, enforcing accountability within health services to meet all client needs, and ensuring the care provided aligns with minimum standards. Within Nigeria, LHSS activities will collaborate with the Government of Nigeria across five states (Nasarawa, Plateau, Zamfara, Lagos, and Kano) to broaden sustainable, pro-poor health financing alternatives.
The goal is to reduce health disparities, amplify access to essential health services for vulnerable demographics, and escalate government investment in health services for enhanced sustainability of healthcare delivery. Additionally, the program will extend support to HIV/AIDS financing in Lagos and Kano States. Objectives
The initiative encompasses the following objectives:
- Augment financial risk protection.
- Enhance population health coverage.
- Elevate the count of fully operational health facilities.
- Promote utilization of state health insurance schemes for HIV/AIDS services.
- Amplify government allocation for HIV/AIDS services.
Primary Duties Responsibilities of the Program Assistant encompass:
- Ensuring complete confidentiality across all assignment aspects, including protocol maintenance, procedures, information flow management, and adhering to timelines and commitments. This entails handling office administration and providing program support.
- Efficiently and discreetly managing administrative and operational schedules while prioritizing effectiveness and efficiency.
- Organizing both regular and impromptu management and staff meetings. This involves preparing and circulating agendas, recording meeting minutes, summarizing action items, monitoring progress on planned topics, and following up with relevant parties.
- Ensuring the smooth functioning of meetings, including managing relationships within the management team.
- Screening all incoming communications and refining outgoing correspondence for the CoP’s endorsement and clearance.
- Ensuring effective communication and offering administrative support to the office.
- Tracking timelines, commitments, and actions taken, while coordinating the collection and submission of reports to the COP.
- Creating routine correspondences, interoffice circulars, general briefing notes, documents, reports, and meeting minutes as required.
- Managing logistics for travel, meetings, appointments, and briefings of the COP, including drafting background materials.
- Providing support for financial and administrative operations.
- Offering assistance in grant management and operational activities.
- Addressing any other tasks designated by the Chief of Party.
Expected Outcomes:
- Timely distribution of meeting agendas 24-48 hours before scheduled meetings.
- Prompt distribution of minutes from previous meetings (including action items) within 24-48 hours after meetings.
- Ensuring COP-signed meeting minutes are appropriately archived for future reference.
- Maintaining action point trackers that indicate responsible individuals, progress, or proof of completed planned activities.
- Development and monitoring of task schedules and timelines for each activity.
- Successful facilitation and execution of workshops and meetings.
- Ensuring the COP’s incoming and outgoing correspondences are effectively managed.
- Weekly submission (by close of business on Fridays) of a list of completed action points and activities, submitted and cleared reports, outstanding tasks, and pending commitments.
- Ensuring timely submission of meeting notes.
- Providing support for grant and financial management.
