Job Title: Driver

Job Type: Full-Time National Employee Department: Operations
Purpose of the Position:
As a Driver, you will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Coordinator, Fleet, and be responsible for operating eHealth Africa’s motor vehicles. Your role will involve safely and responsibly performing all official travel using the organization’s vehicles. Additionally, you will regularly service and maintain the vehicles, consider road conditions and accessible routes, run official errands, and provide assistance with other office tasks.
What You’ll Do:
To succeed in this role, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned, including:
- Safely transport employees and individuals as directed, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment.
- Ensure the vehicle is in proper and safe condition before use, reporting any damages or mechanical issues and providing recommendations for repairs.
- Adhere to traffic rules, regulations, and speed limits.
- Maintain cleanliness and acceptable condition of assigned vehicles consistently.
- Arrive on time and at specified locations, dressed appropriately with closed-toe shoes.
- Manage pick-up and drop-off schedules.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor towards management, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Comply with company regulations, internal policies, and guidelines.
- Report all safety, security, and driving incidents to the supervisor immediately.
- Follow relevant notification procedures in case of absence from work.
- Conduct routine check-ups of vehicles and comply with laws and company policies regarding mobile phone use, smoking, and prohibited equipment while on duty.
- Travel between company worksites as required.
- Present a professional demeanor and tactfully approach others.
- Handle pressure well, treat others with respect and consideration, regardless of their status or position.
- Take responsibility for own actions and fulfill commitments.
- Maintain punctuality and actively contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
- Adhere to Policies and Procedures.
- Adhere to eHealth Africa’s Code of Conduct and ethical standards.
Requirements:
The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform this job:
- Minimum of Secondary School Education and a clean driving record with experience.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and demonstrable route planning skills.
- Considerable knowledge of Nigerian roads and local laws.
- Two years of job-related experience, preferably in an NGO.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in various communication modes, including in-person, mobile phone, pager, and radio.
- Excellent customer service skills with flexibility and self-motivation.
- Adaptability to changing work environments, results-oriented, and positive-minded.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Fluency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of local Hausa is advantageous.
- Proven ability to work with diverse and large teams, fostering positive relationships with local and international stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
