The Lagos State Scholarship Board is the State Government’s organ established in February 1968 shortly after the creation of the State to be in charge of Bursary, Scholarship and other educational related matters. FUNCTIONS Serves as advisory body and policy formulation organ on all scholarship matters (both local and foreign) of the State Government. In charge of administration and award of scholarships.
In charge of administration of Bursary Award to all deserving indigenes of the State, running full time courses in Tertiary Institutions within the country Liaises between the Federal and Lagos State Government on Scholarship related matters. Such as the Nigeria awards Assists in coordinating different Scholarship Awards of the Federal Government to the citizens of the state e.g. Commonwealth and Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA).
Lagos State Scholarship Board announces application period for the 2022/2023 Bursary and Scholarship Awards, open to Lagos State indigenous students.
The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Scholarship Board (LSSB) has officially announced the commencement of the application period for the 2022/2023 academic year’s Bursary and Scholarship Awards.
The application forms for both the Bursary and Scholarship Awards will be available for purchase starting from Thursday, 1st June 2023 and will close at 12 midnight on Friday, 30th June 2023.
Benefits of Lagos State Scholarship Board Bursary & Scholarship Awards
Current Rate Of Local Scholarhip Awards. The following rates were fixed as amount payable to each approved beneficiary, depending on the category of his/her award:
- Technical Colleges N100,000
- Poly/Colleges of Education N200,000
- First Degree N200,000
- Masters Degree N300,000
- Doctorate Degree N400,000
Current Rate Of Local Bursary Awards.
For Lagos State University (LASU) Students:
- Freshers N35,000
- Arts Students N25,000
- Science Students N30,000
- Physically challenged Students N40,000
- Law/Engineering/Medical Students N50,000
Students from other Institutions:
- Arts Students N20,000
- Science Students N30,000
- Physically challenged Students N40,000
- Law/Engineering/Medical Students N50,000
- Law School & Maritime Academy Students N200,000
Requirements & Qualification
This opportunity is extended to all indigenous students of Lagos State attending tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
- The applicant must have gained full time admission into a tertiary Institution
- The applicant must be a bonafide indigene of Lagos State (by paternity).
Eligibility Requirements for Scholarship Awards:

- The applicant must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 and above for undergraduate and 2.1 (second class upper) for postgraduate.
