Lionel Messi stunned viewers as he netted the very first overhead kick of his career on Saturday.

The superstar featured for Paris Saint-Germain as they ran out 5-0 winners against Ligue 1 opponents Clermont Foot 63 at the Gabriel Montpied Stadium.

For the away side’s final goal, Neymar clipped in a delightful pass to Messi inside the box. Onside but with no defender around him, the attacker chested the ball with the keeper rushing out, before athletically putting the ball into the back of the net.

And fans went wild online upon seeing the majestic finish. One gushed: “Just when you think he’s done. Comes up with another magic.” A second one chimed in: “WHAT?!?!? Messi finally completed football.” A third one said: “Who say, he cant score a bicycle kick? What a start to the season. 2 Goals. 1 assist.”


Another wrote: “Like I said before. Everybody that jumped on that Ferguson comment about Messi being just a Barcelona player.” A last one wrote: “And the stadium chanting his name afterwards.” Someone posted: “The Messi juice is crazy, this definitely getting copyrighted in less than an hour…”

PSG, the reigning champions, headed to the top of the French league after their empathic win. Indeed, under new manager Christophe Galtier, the side could not have gotten off to a better start to their new campaign.
