The Thomas Adewumi University, Oko, Kwara State, Nigeria, founded by De Crown Nigeria Limited, a private University was approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria in February.2021.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

The minimum qualifications and experiences specified by the National Universities Commission for all academic positions apply. ICT Skills are required for all positions at the University. Those without these minimum requirements need not apply.

 

i. Professor (TAUASS 07):

A PhD Degree in relevant field with a minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in full-time teaching and research. Candidate must possess ability to initiate and supervise research projects and have at least 25 significant peer reviewed
scholarly publications in reputable National and International outlets out of which at least 35% must have impact factor with membership of relevant professional bodies where applicable. Administrative experience will be an advantage. Successful applicant must be able to give academic and professional leadership in the field.
Proficiency in ICT with demonstrable competence is a requirement.

 

ii. Associate Professor (TAUASS 06):

As in (i) but with a minimum of nine (9) years’ Experience in full-time teaching and research and at least 20 significant peer reviewed scholarly publications in reputable National and International outlets out of which at least 30% must have impact factor with membership of relevant professional bodies where applicable.

 

iii. Senior Lecturer (TAUASS 05):

Same as for (i) above, with six (6) years of University experience in full-time teaching, research and administration plus at least 12 significant scholarly publications in National and International peer reviewed Journals out of which at least 25% must have impact factor. Candidate must show ability to develop and execute research projects, must show evidence of research direction and membership of relevant professional bodies where applicable. Proficiency in ICT with demonstrable competence is a requirement.

 

iv. Lecturer I (TAUASS 04):

Candidate must possess a PhD degree in the relevant field with three years of post-doctoral experience in teaching and research and a minimum of four scholarly publications in National and International peer reviewed Journals. Proficiency in ICT with demonstrable competence is a requirement and membership of relevant professional bodies where applicable.

 

v. Lecturer II (TAUASS03):

A PhD degree in the relevant field or M.A./M.Sc. with three (3) years teaching, research and administrative experience in tertiary institutions plus Ph.D. registration and at least one journal publication. Proficiency in ICT with demonstrable
competence is requirement and membership of relevant professional bodies where applicable.

 

B. NON-ACADEMIC POSITIONS.

  1.  VICE CHANCELLOR’S OFFICE
    ii.  DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS (TAUNTSS 13)

The Deputy Director of Admissions will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the Admissions Office, and for handling all student admission issues in the University. He/she must have good leadership and management Skills high level of personal integrity, and be able to achieve the goals of the Universitya processes, with particular regard to publicity as well as the Joint Admissionsa Matriculation Board’s Central Admission Processing System.

 

QUALIFICATION:

(a) A good honours degree of at least Second Class Honours (Lower Division) from a recognised University with at least 8 years relevant experience, preferably in a University or other related Institution of higher learning.

(b) Evidence of previous performance in relation to processing of admission in a tertiary institution.

(c) Possession of proven records of leadership/administrative qualities.

(d) Attainment of the position of Chief Director or their equivalents in a University or other tertiary institutions.

(e) Physical and mental fitness.

 

DURATION OF APPOINTMENT:

The Deputy Director of Admissions shall hold office for a term of three (3) years, subject to renewal on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.

 

ii. SECURITY DEPARTMENT

Administrative Officer/Administrative Assistant (TAUNTSS 08/07):

Candidates must possess B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies, Sociology, Psychology or a related degree from a recognised University, plus five ‘O’ Level Credit passes to include English Language.

 

Candidate must be computer literate. Applicants for the post of Administrative
Officer must have at least Three (3) years post qualification work experience or Masters Degree

 

2. REGISTRY

i. Senior Assistant Registrar (TAUNTSS 11)

Applicants must have a good honours B.A/B.Ed/B.Sc./B.Tech degree in related
disciplines from a recognized University with a minimum of Second Lower Division.
Possession of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Human resources with experience in a tertiary Institution will be an advantage. Candidates must possess minimum of Eight (8) years relevant post qualification work experience. Candidates must be computer literate with membership of registered professional bodies. Applicants must have occupied the position of at least Assistant Registrar or its equivalent in a University for at least three years.

 

ii. Assistant Registrar (TAUNTSS 09)

Applicants must possess a good University degree from a recognised University, as well
as have at least six (6) years post qualification cognate experience. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage. Candidates must be computer literate with membership of relevant professional bodies. Applicants must have occupied the position of at least Administrative Officer or its equivalent in a University.

 

iii. Administrative Officer (TAUNTSS 08)
Applicants must possess a good University B.A/B.Sc./B.Ed./B.TECH degree in relevant
discipline from a recognised University with at least Second Class Lower Division, as well as have at least Three (3) years post qualification cognate experience or M.A./M.Ed./M.Sc. Degree from a recognized University. Applicants must be computer literate and membership of professional bodies will be an added advantage.

 

iv. Assistant Registrar (Legal Services TAUNTSS 09)

Applicants must have a minimum of LLB/BL with five (5) years administrative experience
in an institution of higher learning. Applicants must also be computer literate

 

v. Administrative Assistant (TAUNTSS 07)
Applicants must possess a good University honours degree not below Second Class Lower Division in related disciplines from a recognised University. Candidates must be computer literate and membership of professional bodies will be an added advantage.

 

vi. Confidential Secretary II (TAUNTSS 06)

Applicants must possess minimum of a B.Sc./HND in Secretarial Studies/Office
Management with a minimum of a Lower Credit and at least five ‘O’ Level Credit passes to include English Language OR RSA or Government Certificate in 120/50 w.p.m. in Shorthand and Typewriting, with a minimum of five (5) years cognate experience.

 

Candidates must possess very good Computer and ICT skills, preferably with relevant certificates. Candidates must also demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, accuracy and good attention to details, ability to work calmly under pressure, good organizational and time management skills, and high level of discretion and initiative.

 

vi.  ReceptionistII (TAUNTSS 06)

Candidate must possess 5 O’ Level Credits (WASSCE/NECO/GCE) including English
Language and Mathematics and a good National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication or
relevant discipline.

 

BURSARY DEPARTMENT

ACCOUNTANT II (TAUNTSS 07)

Suitable candidates must possess 5 O’ Level Credits (WASSCE/NECO/GCE) including;

  • English Language and
  • Mathematics plus a degree in
  • Accounting or degree in other relevant
    discipline with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.

 

ACCOUNTANT I (TAUNTSS 08)

Candidates must possess 5 O’ Level Credits (WASSCE/NECO/GCE) including English
Language and Mathematics plus a degree in Accounting or other relevant discipline with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division plus at least 3 years’ post qualification cognate experience as an Accountant II.

 

STUDENTS AFFAIRS UNIT

COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGIST I/II (TAUNTSS 7/8)

Applicants should possess 5 “O” Level Credits (WASSCE/ NECO/GCE) and a good
Degree in Guidance and Counseling, Psychology or related discipline for II and at least three (3) years’ cognate experience in an Institution of higher learning for I (Senior
Secondary School professional Counselors may also be considered).

 

DIRECTORATE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION
TECHNOLOGY CENTRE (ICT)

i. Senior System Analyst (TAUNTSS 09)

Candidates must have B.Sc., B. Tech. or HND Computer Science, plus five ‘O’ Level
Credits passes to include English Language and Mathematics. Candidate with a University degree must have nine years cognate experience, while the HND holder must have ten (10) years cognate experience or a suitable Systems Analyst I who has spent at least three (3) years
on the post with professional qualification. A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage. Expertise in Web Administration /Server Administration and in-depth understanding of PHP scripting, MySQL, XQuery, SQL Server, HTMLS5, etc., is required.

 

ii. Webmaster II/Systems Analyst II (TAUNTSS 07)

Candidates should have a good University Degree not below Second Class Lower
Division or HND not below Upper Credit in Computer Engineering, Computer
Science, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Physics with Electronics, Informatics or
related discipline or equivalent. Possession of additional professional qualifications inh hardware and computer engineering practice such as Microsoft, Oracle, CISCO and CPN qualification will be an added advantage.

 

iii. Webmaster/System Analyst I 08
HND/Degree in Computer Science/ Informatics or related discipline or equivalent professional qualifications plus three (3) years’ post-qualification cognate experience.

 

iv. TECHNICAL OFFICER (TAUNTSS 06)
Candidate must possess 5 O’ Level Credits (WASSCE/NECO/GCE) including English
Language and Mathematics and a good National Diploma (ND) in relevant discipline

 

INFORMATION/PROTOCOL/COMMUNICATIONS UNIT

 

i. Principal Information/Communications Officer (TAUNTSS 11)

Candidate must possess First Degree/HND in Mass Communication, Public Relations,
Journalism, English, Marketing or other related disciplines plus at least ten (10) years cognate experience in the media practice or related fields. Candidate with a Master’s Degree must have at least six (6) years cognate experience. Professional certification is compulsory. Candidate must also have five ‘O’ Level Credit passes to include English Language. Candidate must be computer literate and show evidence of ability to establish and maintain lines of communication between the University and its public and display excellence in verbal and written communication.

 

ii. Senior Information/Communications Officer (TAUNTSS 09)

Candidate must possess First Degree/HND in Mass Communication, Public Relations,
Journalism, English, Marketing plus at least six (6) years cognate experience in the media practice or related fields. Candidate with a Master’s Degree must have at least three (3) years cognate experience. Professional certification is compulsory. Candidate must also have five ‘O’ Level Credit passes to include English Language. Candidate must be computer literate.

 

  1. ACADEMIC PLANNING UNIT

i. Planning Officer I (TAUNTSS 09)
Candidates must possess a good University degree in Economics, Educational
Management (with bias in Mathematics or Statistics), Statistics, Business Administration, or any other relevant discipline from a recognized University with at least nine (9) years post qualification cognate experience or a suitable Planning Officer I who has spent at least
three years (3) on the post and also have five ‘O’ Level Credit passes to include English Language and Mathematics.

 

ii.Planning Officer I (TAUNTSS 08)

Candidates must possess a good University degree in Economics, Educational
Management(with bias in Mathematics),Statistics, Business Administration, or any other
relevant discipline from a recognized University with at least Three (3) years post qualification cognate experience and also have five ‘O’ Level Credit passes to include

 

English Language and Mathematics. Possession of higher degree will be an added advantage. Candidate must be computer literate.

 

iii. TECHNICAL STAFF

(Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mass Communication, Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Physics)

 

Technologist II (TAUNTSS 07):

Candidates must possess B.Sc./HND not below Credit level in relevant disciplines with at least five ‘O’ Level Credit passes to include English Language and Mathematics plus Associate membership of relevant professional body – NIST, NATE, COREN MiSTc etc. and relevant bodies.. Candidate must be computer literate and show proof of registration with relevant professional bodies.

 

3. UNIVERSITY HEALTH SERVICES

i. Medical Officer I (TAUMESS 02 (10)
Candidate must possess a good honours degree in Medicine and evidence of registration with the Medical and Dental Council Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) and a minimum of Seven (7) years of post-registration cognate experience. Candidate must be computer literate.

 

ii. Nursing Officer /Staff Nurse (TAUNTSS (06)

Applicants should possess NRN or the NRM or its equivalent qualification and must provide proof or evidence of registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

 

4. UNIVERSITY LIBRARY
i. Librarian I (TAUNSS 03)

Candidates must possess a minimum of M. L. S. Degree with at least Three (3)
years work experience, at least two academic publications and computer literacy.

 

ii. Librarian II (TAUNTSS 02)

Candidates must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower Degree in Library
Science. Candidates must be computer literate.

 

iii. Library Officer (TAUNTSS 06)

Applicants must possess five O’ level Credits including English Language and a
National Diploma (ND) in Library Studies or Science. A Principal Library Assistant
who must have spent at least three (3) satisfactory years of service on the post may also be considered. Candidates must be computer literate.

 

5. SPORTS UNIT

Sports Coach II

Applicants must possess 5 O’ level credits (WASSCE/NECO/GCE) including English
Language and Mathematics plus B.Ed. in PHE/Human Kinetics or other relevant discipline and not below Second Class Lower and NIS Coaching Certificate with at least Two (2) years work experience.

 

6. WORKS AND PHYSICAL PLANNING

 

i) Technical Assistant (Carpenter/Electrician/Plumber) TAUNTSS 03/04 Candidates must possess SS3 plus Trade Test and Three (3) years relevant work
experience

 

ii) Driver/Mechanic (TAUNTSS O3/04)

Candidates must possess SS3, Trade Test II certificate, plus Class ‘E’ Drivers
License and Four (4) driving experience.

 

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The appointment, which is to commence as soon as possible, is for a probationary period of two years in the first instance and may be confirmed to retiring age.
Salaries are very attractive and competitive. Other conditions are as contained in the
approved Conditions of Service by the Governing Council of Thomas Adewumi
